Ladbrokes Scottish League Two 2019 - 2020

scottish league two logo

Cove Rangers become the second team to win promotion to the SPFL, the first from the Highland League, after soundly beating Berwick Rangers over two legs in the promotion play-off. The Wee Rangers now play in the Lowland League.

When the SPFL season was ended prematurely it was announced that there would be no play-offs, handing bottom-placed Brechin City a reprieve and cancelling the play-off between the champions of the Highland League and Lowland League.

Rovers have kept both of their kits from last season but a new sponsor replaces Reigart Contracts whose name has appeared on their shirts for the past 20 years. As usual they wear the same shorts and socks with both first and second choice kits so having a third kit in blue and white is only sensible.

After a catastrophic season in the Championship, Brechin have plunged straight down to the basement. Perhaps reverting to all-red, their preferred colour scheme for most of the last 50 years, will signal an improvement in their fortunes. The white change shirt from last season is retained (with the new club sponsorship) and is now worn with the white shorts that were first choice last season.

The SPFL debutants play in a genteel suburb of Aberdeen, which has a population over just over 7,000. They have retained the strip they wore last season in the Highland League but with a new sponsor, an Aberdeen-based freight forwarding company that has agreed to sponsor the club for the next three seasons. The white strip is new.

The all-white strip worn last season proved unpopular with supporters as well as the kit manager who struggled to remove the marks made on the shorts by artificial pitches. Macron now supply the club and have created a bespoke first choice shirt. The change strip has been dubbed the "heritage kit" and is described as "a celebration of our city and club's foundation" and pays "homage to our formation as a club in 1928 and our revival alongside the reds of Postal United in 1986."

Because of their amateur principles, Queen's Park retain their strips for several seasons rather than attempt to extract the maximum cash from their support. The change strip was introduced in 2016 when it served as first choice during their 150th anniversary. It is a replica of one of the club's earliest strips.

Stenhousemuir were relegated last season after losing the play-off final against Clyde. They have signed up with the German sportswear provider, Uhlsport. The new home strip is deceptively simple from a distance but close to the fading diamonds printed into the chest turn out to made up of a fine mesh. The change strip is outstanding.
