Irn Bru Scottish Second Division 2009 - 2010

Scottish Division Two is the third tier of Scottish senior football. The champions are promoted to the First Division each season while the three clubs finishing behind them compete in play-offs along with the ninth placed side from the First Division. A similar arrangement applies between the Second and Third Division so two, three or four clubs can change places each season.

Last season's maroon and green away kit is replaced this season by an all-navy outfit with yellow flashes that, on the shirt at least, look perilously close to one of Adidas' recent templates. A curious black lattice-like trim also appears on the shirt. The home kit is unchanged.

It's back to all-maroon for the Red Lichties with the addition of Bukta's distinctive new diagonal sash. Curiously this features runs from the right shoulder to the left hip while the only other team to have adopted the sash, Brechin City, have it running from left to right. the colours are simply reversed for the new away strip.

Due to problems with the quality and supply of replica kits, Arbroath switched to Pendle in October after the SFL gave permission for their registered strips to be changed.

Brechin have commissioned Bukta to create their new strips and the manufacturer have come up two very attractive designs in the first year of their contract. As usual, the home kit is all-red but now set off with a white sash trimmed with metallic gold. The dramatic effect is completed with asymetrical white trimmings. The away kit is basically dark gray with navy blue trim and gold piping.

Brechin are another club given permission to change their registered strip because of problems with their supplier.

Clyde appear in Division Two after being relegated last season. As usual the home kit consists of a white shirt trimmed in red, black shorts and red stockings. The new away kit revives the popular black and red stripes that have been used on and off since the seventies. An all-red third strip will be unveiled later.

Dumbarton were Third Division champions last season. The home and away kits from that successful campaign are retained but a new third kit is introduced. Chosen by supporters, the new outfit is reminiscent of the popular white kits worn in the 1960s, although with a diagonal gold and black sash rather than the horizontal bands seen at the time. This has been produced as a commercial exercise: SFL rules allow such strips to be worn in up to four home and four away games.

East Fife replaced their shirt sponsor in March after a dispute and take the field for 2009-10 in the same shirts that they finished the previous season with but now worn with black shorts and gold stockings. Last season's green and white away kit now serves as the team's third choice while an all-red change kit is introduced.

Peterhead have teamed black shorts with their familiar blue shirts for the first time. Their new kit is designed by Umbro and features black and white trimmings on the upper chest and a wrap-round white and blue trim on the shorts. The new away kit is navy and old gold. The all-red third strip was used for the first time in October at Cowdenbeath.
