In the end the French recorded an emphatic win but it was not altogether easy for them after Stoichkov (scorer of all Bulgaria's goals in Euro 96) put his team back in the game at 2-1 with 21 minutes left. With the scores level at Elland road, Bulgaria would have gone through but their heads dropped when news of Amor's goal for Spain came through. A last minute score by Loko sealed the win.
